Origami Crane Place Card Holder Tutorial + Workshop Highlights

I recently taught this Origami Crane Place Card Holder during my very first workshop at Wantage Library, and I wanted to share the design here as well. Inspired by the traditional origami crane, this arrangement transforms the classic model into something both decorative and practical.

The crane can hold a place card, small message, or name tag, making it perfect for table settings, parties, weddings, or thoughtful handmade decorations. I especially enjoy teaching useful origami models that people can actually use and display, and this was a lovely project to fold together during the workshop.

For my version, I used small 7 cm x 7 cm paper because I love miniature origami, but the model also works beautifully with standard 15 cm square paper if you prefer a larger size.

Here are a few lovely moments from my first origami workshop at Wantage Library. It was such a joy to spend the evening folding together.

Thank you to everyone who joined the workshop, to Wantage Library for hosting, and to Jess at Wantage Bookshop for the beautiful photos and all the support 🩵

And thank you to everyone who took home a copy of my book. I hope it inspires many relaxing hours of folding and brings you plenty of enjoyment as you create new projects.
